Food, Friends and Fake Birthdays
I haven’t been to a hibachi restaurant in years, the atmosphere was so fun, and it helped that we were in good company.
I skipped the giant drink (probably a good choice) but definitely went for a few shots of sake. They squirt it into your mouth from a ketchup container,
no need to dirty a shot glass apparently.
I ordered the filet mignon dinner. It came with soup, salad, a shrimp appetizer (2 shrimp) and your choice of rice or noodles. The food was delicious, and they’re pretty generous with the servings. I had quite a bit of food left on my plate that Adam can enjoy later.
It’s pretty pricey, but your paying for the show. It helps if your cook is friendly (and heavy handed with the shot squirting).
While we were enjoying our meal, we noticed that there were a awful lot of people there celebrating birthdays. What a coincidence, I was also there celebrating my birthday*.
*My birthday is in March.
Let the birthday gonging commence, and serve me my birthday fried ice cream!
Yay for fake birthdays!!
After dinner we went out for some more drinks and laughs. We had a great time and didn’t get home until almost 1 am. We’ve made plans to get together with them again, but this time we’re going Mexican.
We were pretty sleepy this morning, and slept later than I would have liked. I have a lot to do today. I’ve got to make a brownie batter dip (similar to this) for a special birthday party I’m attending tomorrow. And yes, it’s for a real birthday. ![]()
And we have plans later with Joe and Tara. We’ll be heading to a corn maze and other fall fun times. I’m looking forward to it.
Gotta get moving, have a great fall day everyone!
I Fooled ‘Em
While doing some blog browsing, I came across a recipe on Chocolate Covered Katie’s blog that I really wanted to try.
I knew I wanted to make it, maybe just to see if it was as good as all the reviews said.
But I had my doubts when I checked out the ingredients, nevertheless, here it is.
Cookie Dough Dip
Looks like cookie dough, right? Well let me tell you, it is delicious, and I may have eaten my weight in it today.
1 can of garbanzo beans, drained and rinsed.
2/3 cup of brown sugar
1/4 cup peanut butter
1/4 cup milk
2 tsp vanilla extract
1/3 cup chocolate chips
Mix all ingredients (except chocolate chips) together in blender until very smooth, then stir in chocolate chips.
Serve with graham crackers or sliced apples.
*********
Don’t be scurred, this dip was the shiz-nit. Real talk, I added this to some plain greek yogurt and it was protein overload!
And there are a few variations I’m also looking forward to making.
Snickerdoodle dip and brownie batter dip, ohhhh yeah!
I was totally amped to go to the gym after work, I guess I was still riding a high from yesterdays awesome run.
But through the course of the day, my hip was really starting to hurt, so I figured I’d be better off to just chill.
Literally, chill with an ice pack on ma hip.
But a gals gotta eat, and since Adam was going out golfing, I treated myself to some sushi.
I went with my favs:
Sweet potato roll, spicy crab roll and asparagus rolls.
I loved it, and I also loved the 3 pumpkin raisin cookies I ate too.

So, Listen…
I’m not on my A game today after a late night of drinking and dancing. Hopping to bed around 5am is just not good.
I’m going to give you my weekend recap in photos.
Starting with Friday Night Jarts.
I drank alot of this…
Ate some speciality pizza and salad….
The guys kept on with the jarts….
while the girls chatted and drank some more.
On Saturday, Adam and I went out for sushi for lunch…
Spicy crab rolls, asparagus rolls and sweet potato rolls. YUM!
I took a wicked good nap (no photo for that)
and went out dancing drinking later in the evening with friends
Honestly, I’m still tired, so I might be heading to my beddy by for a little early evening nappy.
See you all tomorrow, when my schedule is a little more “normal”.
Birthday Fiesta
Last nights birthday dinner for Joe and Tara was a great time.
There was some good food, good drinks, and of course good friends.
This morning was a little blurry for me, and I had to go to work.
So breakfast was on the go, courtesy of Timmy Ho’s.
I went with an egg white sandwich, no cheese, but they forgot the ham too. FAIL!
Adam picked me up from work, and treated me to lunch.
We went to Tao for some sushi.
We went there a little while back, when Kate was visiting. And if you remember, I wasn’t completely blown away, but thought we’d give it another go.
This time I went with a spicy crab roll, and a cucumber eel roll. (I’m really trying to branch out)
I was actually really pleased with my choices. Sushi win!!
Adam and I have a wedding to attend tonight. My brothers best friend, Jon, got married a few months back in Florida. Tonight is the reception for those who couldn’t attend the destination wedding.
I’m looking forward to it. We’ve known Jon for a very long time, and can’t wait to see my brother’s gang all together.
I also have a special shout out to Jenn. She left before I could get a picture of her, but Thanks for reading!!
My Little Dream
I desperately want to be a runner.
I’d love to lace up my sneakers and head outside on a beautiful sunny day. (Which I know I could do anytime, but still)
I’d love to stick a bad ass 26.2 sticker on my car window. Heck, I’d be cool with a 13.1.
I’d love to be able to pound out a “quick” 5 mile run.
And I’d love to share pictures of me crossing a finish line.
But all those little things seem so far away for me.
I’ve never been a runner, but my new-found love of exercise has lit a fire in me to try.
My girl Aaliyah said it right “If at first you don’t succeed, dust yourself off and try again”
So, I try, with some interval treadmill routines, each time trying SO HARD to increase my minutes.
Today’s work out was that.
I did 5 minutes of a warm up before kickin’ into gear. I did a 2 minute walk, 3 minute run, back and forth until I reached 45 minutes.
I was pooped, and my feet are killing me. How do you runners do it?
I was a super sweaty mess walking into Wegmans getting my dinner.
Adam was out golfing with Andy, so I decided that I was going to treat myself to a sushi dinner.
Wegmans has a pretty good selection, they usually do. I got a green vegetable roll and the spicy blue lump crab roll.
They were good. I’ve never tried the veggie roll, it was a mix of spinach, asparagus and cucumber. YUM, three of my favorites.
Time for me to watch a little DVR’d So You Think You Can Dance.
I LOVE that show.
P.S. Hey, my running readers: I’ll take any suggestions you have on running, how to get started, how to prevent blisters etc.
