Infamous Food Post
So, back in the good old Bananas and Beer days, I actually used to blog about what I ate.
Imagine that!
A blog post about something other than me drinking too much on the weekends.
That’s a lot of links, friends.
“All ya gotta do is put a drink in my hand…..”
There’s been far too many of those lately…
So this morning, when I woke up, I grabbed my new camera and got to snappin’ on my breakfast.
I had 2 scrambled eggs, with red onion and tomato.
The for dinner, I went way back, and went with a flatbread.
Tonight’s was steak and gorgonzola.
I added a little mozzarella to hold it all together and grape tomatoes for color. ![]()
It was just alright, but I do love that crispy crust. ![]()
Now, don’t look for me tomorrow, I’m going on a lady date with Stephanie.
We decided not to do Christmas gifts, in favor of a really nice dinner out and perhaps definitely a big ass drink.
Give me some steak and a giant margarita!! ![]()
This is NOT a healthy recipe
I thought I’d lead with that, I don’t want to mislead anyone.
This is the recipe I hinted at yesterday, and I’m finally ready to share.
A co worker brought this in last week or so, and I think I may have eaten my weight in this stuff. I suppose it’s a monkey bread, but very easy, and delicious.
Easy Monkey Bread
1 16oz bag of frozen dinner rolls. (I used Rhodes brand, found it at Wegmans)
1/2 cup white sugar
1/2 cup brown sugar
1 tbsp cinnamon
1 box of butterscotch pudding mix (cook and serve)
1 and 1/4 stick of butter, cubed
Place frozen rolls in a non-stick bundt pan. Combine sugars and cinnamon and sprinkle over rolls. Sprinkle package of pudding over the rolls and finish by topping the rolls with the cubed butter.
Place in a turned off oven and let sit 6 hours or overnight.
In the AM (or after 6 hours) remove from oven, and preheat the oven to 375*, place pan back in the oven and cook for 25-30 minutes.
(Make sure you place a cookie sheet or foil under the pan, as it might spill over)
When it’s done cooking, remove from oven and flip onto a large plate.
Let cool slightly, and enjoy.
I resisted eating all the leftovers for breakfast this morning, and opted for an egg sandwich.
I also spent last night working on a cookie recipe that I had rattling around in my head. It didn’t turn out like I wanted it to, so it’s back to the drawing board for a new idea.
Have you ever made anything that seemed good in your mind, but didn’t really work out?
Granny Smith and Gorgonzola Pizza
Yesterday, I did a whole lot of nothing. The only thing I did that actually felt blog worthy was my newest pizza creation.
Adam and I had gone grocery shopping, so I picked up some things that were rolling around in my head.
I started my spreading a thin layer of fat free ricotta cheese on a flatbread. I topped the ricotta with a thinly sliced granny smith apple and some chopped red onion.
I added a little bit of mozzarella cheese to help everything stick together, and finally, sprinkled gorgonzola cheese on top of the pizza.
I placed it in a 450* oven for about 12 minutes.
While the combination of flavors was interesting, it definitely wasn’t my favorite.
I ate it all though! It wasn’t that bad.
This morning, I got up a little earlier than usual, and no, it wasn’t because I was heading to the gym. Wah Wahhhhh! ![]()
Zeusy was cramping my sleepy style again, Ya know, he’s only 28 pounds, but I swear it’s like having another adult in the bed.
I might even prefer another adult in the bed
, because they understand English, so I could shout, “GET THE HELL OUT OF HERE” and they would actually get it, and not just do this:
Nah, I love my little guy, I can tolerate a billion more kicks to the stomach. ![]()
For breakfast, I decided to make myself an egg sandwich. Now that we finally went grocery shopping, my breakfast options are a little more open.
Ham, egg and cheese, on a toasted everything bagel thin. Good way to start my day!
What’s your favorite breakfast?
Do I really want to eat that?
This morning, I had the remaining piece of the frittata that I made the other day. I swear!
I would have loved to make another trip to Tim Horton’s this morning. Especially because I think my coffee maker finally kicked the bucket. I prepared an entire pot, and walked away, expecting it to do its thang. I looked at it much later and saw that the damn thing is only half full with coffee Where’s the rest of it, you ask? Well, it’s all backed up in the basket, with the grounds, overflowing. EEw.
Now, I’m sorry, because I’ve told you this exact same story before, and maybe you’re thinking it’s my fault for continuing to use it, but I thought it was a one time thing. Now I know.
Lesson learned, my friends, lesson learned.
After the coffee fiasco, I was standing in the kitchen, searching for some lunch contents that didn’t exist. Adam ate the last cheese stick, GAH! I have no more fruit, D’OH! And yesterday, I finished my bag of salad, DAG!
Thankfully, I had some asparagus soup that I made months ago, and threw in the freezer.
Being that we’re so close to Halloween, doesn’t this soup make you want to scream out “THE POWER OF CHRIST COMPELLS YOU!”
I’m not going to lie. I’m not all that excited about my lunch selection. I wasn’t all that excited when I first gave it a spin a while back. Luckily, I packed a few slices of rye bread to toast up with the soup. And I know I’ve professed my love for rye toast.
The thought of eating asparagus soup while a co worker is chowing down on some Mickey D’s or Buffalo Chicken pizza right next to me, is not thrilling. And did I mention he has a HUGE bag of Peanut Butter M&M’s I saw him hide in his desk? Sharing is caring, dude!
Whatever.
I am excited about my dinner plans though. I’m heading out tonight for a girls night out. Drinks are necessary, dinner is optional. ![]()
Edited to add: I ate the soup. While it vaguely reminded me of the spew from Linda Blair’s mouth, it still tasted good.
Apparently, I’m Paula Deen
First off, I want to say a big “Hello” to you all, new and old readers. You guys must have been loving my Halloween pics, my views hit my highest yet. Thanks for that, and if you are new, I hope you like what you see and stick around for more.
I didn’t have time to blog this morning, I was feverishly trying to scrub off Saturday’s temporary tattoos, without much luck. At least I managed to scrub off the big ol boobies I had on my left arm.
*Amy Winehouse really did have boobies on her arm, FYI.
I had my gym bag packed and I headed over to the gym after work. I have to admit, taking the past few weeks off, made it really hard to get going. I’ve gotten quite used to coming right home and spending extra time with Adam and Zeusy.
But I accepted long ago, that working out is just a part of my life now, and I need to make time for me.
I started out with a 10 minute warm up of the StairClimber. I did a level 8 with 2 minute intervals of single step and skipping a step. I pushed myself in the last 2 minutes, by upping the intensity to a level 10.
Then I hopped on the treadmill. I did a total of 2 miles, .25 miles walking, .25 miles running. I could feel that my hip was not right, but I was comfortably able to do the quarter miles, so I kept going. Sure enough though, the pain has gotten increasingly worse. I popped an Aleve as soon as I got home. Plus, my father in law had given me the names of a few Dr.’s he thinks I should check out. I just keep forgetting to call them.
When I got home I started dinner. I decided to make a frittata. I started my frying up 6 slices of bacon. I chopped up some red and yellow peppers, and red onion.
I’m not sure what I was thinking, but I decided to make the frittata in the pan with the bacon grease. How very Paula Deen of me, no? After I removed the cooked bacon, I put the peppers and onion in the pan, and let them get soft and brown. Then I crumbled the bacon and added about 11 scrambled eggs. (I know, odd amount, it’s just what I had left.)
Throw it in a 350* oven for about 20 minutes, or until the center is set.
I was a little concerned that it was going to be too greasy, but luckily I only made 6 slices of bacon, so there wasn’t too much grease. Plus, who are we kidding, fat = flavor.
It’s true, and it’s ok.
And it’s delicious.
Runny Eggs: The Hangover Cure
Last night’s BADN (that’s Big Ass Drink Night, if ya don’t know) was fun.
Too much fun perhaps. Luckily, I capped it at 1 big ass drink, and was able to function this morning. ![]()
*How fabulous is my new necklace?
Zeus woke up a little earlier than I would have liked, and I supposed I could have kept on sleeping, but I decided to just stay up.
I certainly didn’t want to waste the day, like I did Sunday.
I was craving some runny eggs for breakfast. That’s always what I’m hungry after a late night.
I fried up 2 eggs, toasted a sandwich thin, and fried up a few slices of ham.
All together, it hit the spot. The “I got home at 2 am, slightly woozy-boozy, and still super tired” spot.
My mom and I are heading to the doctor, and getting some lunch later this afternoon. My mom suggested Panera Bread. I’ve actually never been there, so I’m excited to try it.
But first, I just have to finish watching an hour block of Will and Grace.
It’s not too often that I get to watch daytime TV, so I am making the most of this.
Breakfast at 3pm
Apparently I’m in full on vacation mode. I must think it’s ok to sleep all day. Literally ALL DAY.
I woke up with Zeus at 7am. Took him out, he did his thing, and back inside we went. I watched a little TV, and then at 9, I decided I wanted to hop back into bed for maybe an hour.
I slept for 6 HOURS!!
When I finally woke, I expected to feel like crap, but surprisingly, I felt ok. My cold doesn’t seem as bad as it was yesterday. ![]()
I made myself something to eat in the form of another pizza. This time I made myself a breakfast pizza. I’ve been kicking around a few ideas for breakfast pizza, and it was technically my breakfast.
I topped a flatbread with a thin layer of ricotta cheese and 2 slightly undercooked scrambled eggs. I topped it with a little bit of shredded cheese and 2 slices of ham, chopped.
It certainly wasn’t my favorite, but it was alright. I’ve never really had a breakfast pizza before, so I was just winging it. If you guys have any pizza suggestions, bring them on!
I have a few other ideas I want to try too.
How about an apple, bacon and cheddar cheese pizza?
Or a taco pizza?
Or maybe a pear gorgonzola cheese pizza.
(If you listen closely, you can already hear my brother gagging
)
After my pizza, I decided to bake something.
I’ve had some apples in my kitchen for about a week, so I thought some apple bread would be perfect. I found a recipe online and made 2 loaves, one to enjoy now and one to freeze and enjoy later.
I’m going to start working on my To-Do list for the week. I refuse to sleep the week away and get nothing accomplished.
I’ve got some shopping plans Wednesday, and a doctor’s appointment Tuesday. Otherwise, I’m free to wash the floor, do loads and loads of laundry, maybe a little more baking and checking out new gym options.
I’ve also got plans with the webcam tonight. (Don’t think naughty thoughts) My sister has a wedding this upcoming weekend, and she needs my make up expertise. So, I’m going to record myself doing my thang and send it to her. And if you’re lucky, I may share it with you guys. That’s, of course, assuming I’m not a total tool on video. ![]()
Hope you guys had a slightly more productive weekend than I did.
Did you do anything exciting this weekend?
I Hear You, Special K
Did you ever see the Special K commercial? The one where a woman is shopping for jeans, but instead of numbers, they’re sizes sexy, ooh la la etc.
The company is trying to get across a message. Why worry so much about the number, what’s important is how you feel.
I know that I’m making good choices and working towards maintaining a healthy lifestyle, but I’ll admit that I’m getting a little pissed off about not losing any weight.
Yeah, yeah, I hear your message Special K, but right now I’m mad as hell, and I’m not going to take it anymore. ![]()
I tried this whole running thing in hopes of busting through this plateau, but the only thing I busted is my hip.
I appreciate the message Special K is putting out there, but I still care about the number, in fact, I’d like to care about 25 less numbers.
But whatever, I’m done bitching.
For breakfast, I decided to make myself a sandwich with a piece of my frittata, provolone cheese and rye bread.
I can’t wait to head to the gym test the strength of my new sports bras. ![]()
Target Trip
I went to the gym today after work. It felt like I hadn’t been there in forever. (Really, it was last Thursday).
I managed to squeak out a little over 1.5 miles on the treadmill. I was feeling great, until my sneaker gave me a blister on the back on my ankle.
Dammit!!
I moved over to the elliptical, where I did an interval program, 1 minute forward, 1 minute backwards, for a total of 20 minutes.
Dinner
I had been thinking about what I would make for dinner all day. I knew I wanted eggs, in some form.
I made myself an egg white frittata, filled with red onions, red peppers and some bacon. And the very end, I decided to sprinkle some mozzarella cheese on top.
It was delicious, and I totally had another slice after this one.
After dinner, I wanted to head over to Target to check out the sports bras on sale.
I’ve been in the market for some new sports bras for a while, but they can be really expensive. I usually wear the plain cotton ones-doubled up-for the double D’s. ![]()
I’ve been doing some research on sports bras. I wanted to make sure that I was going to get something that would be supportive enough for me while I run. I’ve read that when purchasing sports bras, you should look for ones that are actually sized, not just small, medium and large. So, as luck would have it, Target had their “High Support Bras” on sale for $16 and they had one black and one white in my size.
I just had to get them.
I also got a couple pairs of shorts to work out in for only $7 a pair.
That was a pretty good Target trip, my friends.
And I almost forgot, I grabbed a bag of my newest addiction.
Popchips are amazing, and this chili lime flavor caught my eye.
Looks like I got myself a snack for tonight. ![]()
How Much Time do YOU Need?
I give myself about an hour to get ready every morning, give or take 10 minutes.
Within that hour, I have to do the following things:
- Take Zeus outside
- Pack my lunch
- pick out clothes/get dressed
- make breakfast
- do hair and makeup
- BLOG!!
I always tell myself to do pick out my clothes, or pack my lunch the night before, to shorten the AM process, but I never do.
And sometimes these things take longer than usual. Taking Zeus outside can sometimes be two or three trips.
I somehow manage to get everything done. With even a little cuddle time with my little guy.
This mornings breakfast was the same as yesterday, fried eggs and toast. Instead of boring you with another photo of that, I’ll give you more pictures of Zeus.
