Bad Day Turned Good

I was dreading work today because of yesterdays computer drama. I wasn’t looking forward to facing my boss.

Turns out, the virus wasn’t as bad as originally anticipated. They were able to give that darn virus the boot and keep all my other programs in tact. Computer is in working order and I’m back to normal!

Hooray!

hooray

Now that the workday is over, I can focus on the important things. Like dinner!

I’m super excited about our dinner plans this evening.

We’re going out on a “friend date”.

We’ll be having dinner with Julie and her husband Craig.

We’re going to a Japanese Hibachi restaurant, and rumor has it, you can order a drink as big as a fishbowl. Open-mouthed smile

I Deserve It

I had a bad day at work. There was a little big problem with my computer ( it rhymes with cyrus) and for some reason I was very emotional about it. Crying face

I know, crying at work is a big no no. I don’t know what it was, I just felt awful. I mean, it is my computer. I certainly didn’t do it intentionally, and I like to think I’m computer savvy enough to run like hell from suspicious pop-ups.

I don’t know how it happened.

My computer was hauled away, and wiped clean. I wonder if it will remember me tomorrow?

After a day like that, I was not going to the gym.

(Add that one to the list)

I definitely wasn’t cooking dinner either, so we ordered subs.

100_5691

I ordered a 1/2 turkey sub, and ate a shit-ton of french fries. Winking smile

I also needed something cold to soothe my tired eyes, so another serving of Wow Cow was necessary. I went with the french vanilla this time, and it was much better.

There was someone else who also enjoyed the Wow Cow.

I don’t care what you think. I love my doggie and his mouth is cleaner than yours. FACT!

Well, kinda. Read it for yourself.

Apple Cinnamon Pumpkin Oats

Last night, after dinner, I took a trip to a custard stand near my house that’s closing for the season on Friday.

I had been strong all summer and hadn’t stepped foot on the stand. I did go last week, but it was already fall. Winking smile

I was all prepared to order myself a full fat custard (they had blueberry that day), but something else caught my eye.

It was called “Wow Cow” and it was advertised to be only 15 calories for a 4 oz. serving! I ordered the Pumpkin Wow Cow and I was in love. Red heart

With the closing near, I wanted to get me some Wow Cow for the last time. They had chocolate and vanilla as flavors, so I went with the chocolate. But it actually had a weird aftertaste, and I ended up throwing out most of the ice cream, just so I could eat the cone.

I’m not giving up on Wow Cow, but with my custard stand closing, I think I’m out of luck for a while.

Do you guys know about Wow Cow, or know a place where I could get it year round?

Breakfast

I tried the Apple Cinnamon Hot Cereal and I didn’t really care for it. I knew I had to come up with other ways to use it.

100_5631

Last night, I made myself some overnights oats and decided to add a little bit in.

Apple Cinnamon Pumpkin Overnight Oats

100_5683

1/3 cup old fashioned oats

1/4 cup canned pumpkin

1/2 cup soy milk

2 tablespoons Bob’s Red Mill apple cinnamon hot cereal

Combine all ingredients and refrigerate overnight.

Heat up in the morning, top with granola and raisins (optional) and enjoy.

100_5682

I usually add some chia seeds to my overnight oats, because thickens it up like “whoa”, but I forgot them yesterday.

DOH!

Pumpkin is such a strong flavor and I couldn’t really taste any apple cinnamon at all. But at least I’ll be using up the hot cereal.

Biggest Loser Workout

My workout was inspired by The Biggest Loser today. And like the contestants on the show, I puked, cried and passed out when I was done.

Capture

I’m just playing.

But seriously, I thought I was going to puke, it was intense.

I started with a walking treadmill warm-up. Then I moved on to a little upper body action.

In and Out bicep curls, tricep extensions, upright rows. 15 of each, repeat.

Static curls, flip grip tricep extensions, lateral raises. 15 of each, repeat.

Then I finished with bicep curls and tricep extensions. I just kept  going until my muscles were fatigued (25 of each).

I hopped on the StairClimber and that’s where it really got ugly. I did the fat burner program for 20 minutes. I did 2 minute intervals of skipping stairs, and every 5 minutes I changed the level of intensity.

My first 5 minutes was level 7, then level 9, level 10 (arggg), and I finished at a level 8.

OMG!

I was chugging water when I was done to wash away the watery puke mouth <——- You totally know what I’m talking about. Sick smile

After the ill feeling left, the amazing feeling crept in. Smile

I friggin’ LOVE working out! (Another thing I never thought I’d say)

I made myself another BBQ chicken pizza on a flatbread for dinner.

Tonight is a good TV night in our house. I love Modern Family, and I think Happy Endings is hilarious. I’m also really into Up All Night. Christina Applegate’s character is so funny, and I’m convinced that I’m going to be just like her when I have a baby.

What are some of your favorite shows?

I Hear You, Special K

Did you ever see the Special K commercial? The one where a woman is shopping for jeans, but instead of numbers, they’re sizes sexy, ooh la la etc.

The company is trying to get across a message. Why worry so much about the number, what’s important is how you feel.

I know that I’m making good choices and working towards maintaining a healthy lifestyle, but I’ll admit that I’m getting a little pissed off about not losing any weight.

Yeah, yeah, I hear your message Special K, but right now I’m mad as hell, and I’m not going to take it anymore. Steaming mad

I tried this whole running thing in hopes of busting through this plateau, but the only thing I busted is my hip.

I appreciate the message Special K is putting out there, but I still care about the number, in fact, I’d like to care about 25 less numbers.

But whatever, I’m done bitching.

For breakfast, I decided to make myself a sandwich with a piece of my frittata, provolone cheese and rye bread.

I can’t wait to head to the gym test the strength of my new sports bras. Winking smile

Target Trip

I went to the gym today after work. It felt like I hadn’t been there in forever. (Really, it was last Thursday).

I managed to squeak out a little over 1.5 miles on the treadmill. I was feeling great, until my sneaker gave me a blister on the back on my ankle.

Dammit!!

I moved over to the elliptical, where I did an interval program, 1 minute forward, 1 minute backwards, for a total of 20 minutes.

Dinner

I had been thinking about what I would make for dinner all day. I knew I wanted eggs, in some form.

I made myself an egg white frittata, filled with red onions, red peppers and some bacon. And the very end, I decided to sprinkle some mozzarella cheese on top.

100_5668100_5670100_5674

It was delicious, and I totally had another slice after this one.

After dinner, I wanted to head over to Target to check out the sports bras on sale.

I’ve been in the market for some new sports bras for a while, but they can be really expensive. I usually wear the plain cotton ones-doubled up-for the double D’s. Winking smile

I’ve been doing some research on sports bras. I wanted to make sure that I was going to get something that would be supportive enough for me while I run. I’ve read that when purchasing sports bras, you should look for ones that are actually sized, not just small, medium and large. So, as luck would have it, Target had their “High Support Bras” on sale for $16 and they had one black and one white in my size.

I just had to get them.

I also got a couple pairs of shorts to work out in for only $7 a pair.

100_5677

That was a pretty good Target trip, my friends.

And I almost forgot, I grabbed a bag of my newest addiction.

100_5676

Popchips are amazing, and this chili lime flavor caught my eye.

Looks like I got myself a snack for tonight. Open-mouthed smile

Unforeseen Circumstances

Due to some unforeseen circumstances, I will not be my normal blogging self today

Luckily, I finished the Hawaii post on the travel page and I’m ready to share it with you.

snip

After sifting through literally hundreds of photos, I narrowed down a few of my favorites. Hawaii is a beautiful place, and it made an amazing setting for our Honeymoon.

Enjoy!

To Try or Not To Try (New Foods)

I went to bed last night around 9:30. I figured it would be better to go to bed earlier, so I could get up in the morning and start a new day.

I made myself a bowl of the Bob’s Red Mill hot cereal I bought the other day.

100_5631

It was easy to prepare. Just 1/4 cup of the cereal and 3/4 cup water. Microwave for 3-5 minutes, and let sit for 1 minute.

I don’t have a pic of it, my camera was acting up this morning.

The apple cinnamon flavor smelled amazing, but the flavor isn’t really there. I’m going to think of other ways to eat/use this. And since I have a whole bag of it, I guess it’s time to put my thinking cap on.

I also bought a Larabar for the first time. I’ve heard about them, and honestly I’m just intrigued by the flavor.

Coconut Cream Pie? Yes, Sir!

100_5662

Hopefully, I can report that it was delicious.

Unfortunately my breakfast didn’t fare as well.  Sad smile

I’m Getting Too Old For This

I don’t have many pics from Meghan’s party last night. I’m lying, I have a bunch, but they will NEVER see the light of day be on the internet.

100_5633

What I do have, is a kink in my back from having to sleep on her couch last night.

GAH! JELLO SHOTS!

I’m getting too old for this.

When I finally managed to stroll into my own house at 8 am, I was exhausted.

I called Stephanie, to give her a party recap, and as we were talking, we decided today would be a good day to have her hubby, Don, check out my car.

100_5165

Don is very handy and he had offered to check out/replace my wheel bearings.

He’s also a superior Grill Master!

100_5005

So, while Don worked his magic, Stephanie and I had some chatty-chat-chat time.

Thanks again Don!

Now that my car is driving smoother, and my butt is finally on my own couch, I’m BEAT!

Back to the grind tomorrow. Sarcastic smile

Nutella Chocolate Protein Oats

I had the best intentions of waking up earlier and heading out for a walk/run. When Zeus woke up at 7am, my eyelids literally hurt. Like it hurt to blink my eyes. Back to sleep I went. Sleepy smile

I’ve been laying on the couch all afternoon, majorly catching up on last week’s DVR’d shows. At the end of every program, I keep thinking “I should do a workout” or “I should really go out for a walk”, but those shows sure ain’t going to watch themselves. Winking smile

Luckily I’ve made some pretty good food choices to offset the whole not-working-out thing.

I started with some chocolate protein oatmeal with a spoonful of Nutella.

100_5623100_5624

After breakfast, Adam and I went out to run a few errands. While I was at a bakery outlet near our house, I came across some wheat pitas and Bob’s Red Mill Hot Cereal, apple cinnamon flavored.

100_5631

Sounded good, so good, I was tempted to make it for lunch. But I was definitely feeling something savory.

Instead, I made myself a mini pizza on a pita. BBQ sauce base, topped with grilled chicken, red onions and cheese.

100_5625100_5626100_5627

It was the perfect size for lunch, and I can’t wait to find other uses for the pitas.

I have plans later to spend some more QT with Meghan. She’s having a small ladies night at her new apartment, and I ‘m always down for a night out. Should be fun.
