Can’t be Tardy for the Party

I was sans camera last night at Jarts, so I can’t really fill you in on my dining choices, but there was a great spread of roast beef, a green salad, a fruit salad and baked ziti.

I went with some beef, a little ziti, and loaded up on the salads.

This morning, Adam and I had a lot to do. We’re bringing lots of yummy things to a party at Stephanie, and her husband, Don’s house. It’s actually the 2nd Annual Vennie Fest. Don is a hunter, and is supplying the food, which is all venison.

It’s not for everyone, and I didn’t think I liked it, but I was a convert after the 1st Vennie Fest.

I’m making some white wine sangria for the ladies, and also my taco salad, as well as a wicked good appetizer.

It’s good, but NOT good for you, and I did not try, in any way to make it healthy (shame on me).

Dog Food Dip (don’t judge by the name)

2 pounds ground beef (I actually used 1 pound beef, 1 pound vennie for today, turkey is also delicious)

1 (10.75 oz) can of condensed cream of mushroom soup

1 onion, diced

1 pound of Velveeta, cubed

Jalapeno slices

Place the meat and onions in a large skillet ( I have to use two). Cook meat until browned and onions are translucent. Drain meat. Add the can of soup and mix together. When incorporated, add the cheese, and keep mixing until completely melted. Add desired amount of jalapenos.

Transfer the mix into a bowl, cover and refrigerate 8 hours or overnight.

Reheat the mixture in the slow cooker and eat with Scoops corn chips.

***********

I’ve made it a few times, and every time, guaranteed, someone asks me for the recipe, so I’m glad I can share it with you.

After preparing all the party food, I was ready to eat something. I made myself a HUGE smoothie. So big, a glass wouldn’t do. This baby was going in a bowl.

It was a Chocolate  Covered Strawberry Smoothie.

I put 1 scoop of vanilla protein powder, 5 whole frozen strawberries, 2 heaping teaspoons of cocoa powder, a shot of honey, ice cubes and coconut milk (which doesn’t taste like coconut at all).

It blended all together and tasted like a big bowl of Neapolitan ice cream. I actually ended up throwing a lot of it away. It was just a little too big for me.

I was really hoping to try a get in a quick run, but I talked myself out of it because of the heat. Luckily, one of my Facebook friends told me to go out with some water and give it a try even if it’s just a short one. That was just the motivation I need.

Have a great day everyone!!

What do you all have planned for this beautiful weekend?
