Busy Day

I won’t give any spoilers, but my opinion of the Hangover 2 was …just ok.  But I did laugh my fanny off, so go see it anyway.

I’m in the middle of straightening my hair ( a looong process), but I wanted to get a quick post in about todays events. We’re heading to a BBQ, I’m bringing my Jello shots and the taco salad.  Hey, people like it.

I’ll be bouncing a little early to head to the NKTOBSB concert with Renae. Not gonna lie, I’m kinda pumped.

Plus we had our own shirts made, with this image on it, so yea, I’m definitely pumped to rock our sweet shirts.  Wouldn’t you be?

Backstreets Back....ALRIGHT!!

Busy Night…

First off, I headed over to the gym to get in a workout, I’m hoping I can get another one in tomorrow, but this weekend is shaping up to be a pretty busy one.

I did 20 minutes on the StairClimber, steady level 8. 4 minutes single step, 4 minutes skipping a step, 2 minutes single step. REPEAT.

Then I hopped on a treadmill hoping to do my running routine, but my shins were hurting, so I moved on to elliptical.  I did 15 minutes of an interval program, and I did the whole thing sdrawkcab.  (get it?)

We had planned on having chicken kabobs for dinner, but we were skewer-less. I improvised and threw everything in my handy grill pan.  I made some brown rice as a side and our chicken kabobs looked more like mock chinese food. But either way, it was really good.

I also was asked to make some Jello shots for a party tomorrow, and seeing as I’m the Jello shot girl, (ask anyone, it’s true) I happily obliged. I usually like to get REAL fancy with the shots, making drink flavors with them (Sex on the Beach, Mai Tai, Amaretto Sour, etc) but seeing as Monday is Memorial Day, I went with standard red, white, and blue.  Trust me when I say there will be NO complaints.

I needed to pick up some blue jello and while at the store, a new product caught my eye.

*Side Note: I’m a sucker for anything new.  If there’s a product with a “NEW” tag on it, I gotta have it, doesn’t matter what it is really, but I’m all over new flavors of gum.

Anywaaays…..

I saw these Crystal Light mixes,  Now, I don’t often make Crystal Light at home, usually only for mixing with alcohol, so these are right up my alley.  And I’m always looking for beer alternatives for our Friday Night Jart League.  I know I’ve intrigued you with that…but it’ll have to wait for another post. ;)

I bought the Appletini and Margarita ones, they also had a Mojito one.

And to cap off this evening, Adam and I are heading to the movies.  We’re going to see Hangover 2. I hope it lives up to the hype, cause there is alot of hype.

I’ll let you know. :)

Turtle Power!!

I headed over to the gym, hoping to get my workout in before the massive storm the meteorologists are calling for.  I did my lower body routine and 30 minutes on the treadmill.

2  minutes  3.5 mph

4 minutes 5.2

1 minute 3.5

3 minutes 3.8 incline 15

repeat 2 more times

You may start to notice that my cardio routines are usually the same, maybe with a slight variation.

When I got home, I was at a complete loss of what to make for dinner, as it was well past dinner time, pushing 7:30. I considered eating a bowl of cereal, but that wasn’t gonna cut it.  I was HUUUNGRY!!

I decided to make one of the Tyson grilled chicken breasts (already cooked, heat in the microwave), steamed asparagus and whole wheat pasta.

super easy chicken

I drizzled it all with a little olive oil and added some garlic salt for flavor.  It was good, and filling!

Ta Daaa!!

While I ate my creation, we watched a little TMNT.  For those of you that don’t know, I’m talking about Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, The Movie.  I think we started watching it as a joke, but then we both found ourselves REALLY watching it, waiting to see what funny things those darn turtles are going to say next.  They are quick with a quip, let me tell ya.

I’m off to enjoy another Blueberry Beer.

TOTALLY TUBULAR DUDE!!

Blueberry Love

I purchased some blueberries last week at, what I thought, was a pretty good price.  They were so good, and there wasn’t a sour one in the bunch. I finished the last of them today in my yogurt.  :(

I also bought some baby cereal (weird, I know) at Target the other day. The little puffs you give to babies just as they start getting their teeth OR the ones a grown a** woman eats just to add a little sumptin’, sumptin’ to her foods.  But the flavor I chose, was BLUEBERRY!

Also, while picking up some chicken at the grocery store, Adam came across this blueberry beer.

Blueberry Beer? Yes Please!

So, in keeping with my theme this week, I just had to buy it.  It was crisp, and very fruity, maybe not for everyone.  But it was refreshing, and will be perfect on a warm sunny day, if we ever get any of those this year.

Red Robin….YUM

My meals today were the usual suspects.  Overnight oats for breakfast and an egg sandwich for lunch. I tried to keep it all pretty light because I knew we were heading over to Red Robin for dinner to celebrate my brother’s girlfriend, Renae’s birthday.

Happy Birthday Renae

I didn’t go to the gym today, so I got home first to greet this smiley face!

When we got to the restaurant, we started with the towering onion rings, just because, man, those things are good. Unfortunately, I didn’t take any photos.  This blogging thing is so new to me, I forget to take photos of everything I consume.

I remembered to take a photo of my grilled chicken sandwich.  I ordered it on a whole grain roll, and loaded it up with lettuce tomatoes and red onion, and to kick it up a notch, I added some Buzzard Sauce, which is just a hot sauce.

I skipped the “Bottomless Steak Fries” and went for a side salad which (awesomely) they let you substitute at no charge.  In fact there are quite a few healthier options you can swap your fries for, so WAY TO GO Red Robin!  Way to keep your health conscience guests happy. And considering Red Robin is Adam’s favorite restaurant, it makes me happy too. :)

We seriously considered heading to Cold Stone Creamery for dessert, but it didn’t happen.  :( Blessing in disguise.

We did head over to Borders to pick up some reading materials.  I got a two, totally different novels.

I got this one mostly because of the price, gotta love the bargain books! But then I was totally hooked when I checked out the back of the book and noticed that Stephen King gave his review; “Great f***ing book, man. I was totally hooked”. I was like HOLD UP, any book that makes Stephen King (or anyone for that matter) drop an F Bomb is a must read for me!

I had my eyes on The Carrie Diaries, also by Candace Bushnell, but was afraid it was going to be too “young adult” for me.  I like a book with a lil bit of naughty. ;)

I’ll be sure to give you my personal reviews,  Hopefully they’re worthy of a few F Bombs!

Schwetty….

I was on FIRE today at the gym.  I finished out my upper body routine, and headed over to the elliptical.  I usually have the same routine on there, just varying the length of time I spend on it.  Today I did 30 minutes.

2 minutes-resistance 5, crossramp 5 (don’t go below 180 spins per minute)

2 minutes- resistance 15, crossramp 15 (stay over 100 spm)

1 minute- resistance 10, crossramp 5 ( just take a breather, but stay around 130 spm)

I finished out on the StairClimber for 10 minutes at a steady level 9, single steps for 2 minutes, skip a step for 2 minutes…

I walked out feeling so pumped, and super sweaty.

I came home to an easy dinner, we made a package of Jack Daniels pulled pork, and a pasta salad mix. I had my pork of a multigrain roll with lettuce and red onion, and I added alot of tomatoes to the pasta salad.  The finished product looked a little like this….

Dinner is served

I’m working on getting my Bananas and Beer Facebook page up and running, so you can check me out there.

Don’t Be Fooled!

While at work today, we received a box of these bad boys from our supply company.

Big Guy!

They are HUGE!! And 250 calories!!  The worst part is that they have almost nutritional value.

I would prefer to make my own crispy rice treats and you can add whatever you’d like to them,  like nuts or dried fruit.

I got my new  Healthy Cooking in yesterday’s mail.  I brought it to work with me to look for some new ideas.

ummmm, burger....

I forgot to bring my camera into the lunch room today, but my lunch was the same as yesterday with the addition of some tomato on my sandwich.

I gotta step up my game at the gym today since yesterday’s workout was majorly on the light side. I already told Adam to expect me home a little later than usual. BRING IT!

And also, look what I had to leave this morning.

My cuddle buggy

Martini Madness

Monday’s are tough,  sometimes I feel like really pushing myself to make up for the weekend, and sometimes I’m just not feeling it. Today, I was just not feeling it. I did about half of my upper body routine, and 25 minutes of miscellaneous cardio (treadmill and stationary bike). I kept my workout on the shorter side today because I had plans to meet up with Stephanie.

We went to Bravo for appetizers ($2.95 each, what a steal!) and martinis. We started with a Paradiso Martini. It was a fruity blend of orange and raspberry.

We decided to get a few flatbreads, we went with a spinach, chicken and bacon.  And a portobello, gorgonzola and carmelized onion. Both were super cripsy and flavorful, I think the price made them even more delicious.

Spinach, bacon and chicken

We attempted to order another round of Paradisos, but the ran out of raspberry schnapps,(WHAAAAAT???) we moved on to the Flirtini. Equally fruity, equally yummy.

We headed over to Pages for one more drink to close out the evening. This one was a Pineapple Upside Down Cake Martini.  This one was sooo good. It was Malibu rum, with vanilla vodka, pineapple juice and a splash of grenadine.

Pineapple Upside-down-tini

We finished our martinis just in time.  The rain was a ‘comin!! And I hope the thunder stays away, Zeus is NOT a fan.

Reese cup in a cup

This mornings smoothie was made with this AMAZING homemade, fresh, dark chocolate peanut butter that I bought at Wegmans.

Questionable, I know

It looks gross, I know, but it’s really good.  It smells and tastes just like biting into a Reese cup.  I knew it would be an excellent addition to my smoothie.  A heaping tablespoon of it, mixed with 1 scoop protein powder, spinach, 1/2 cup of almond milk and ice. It blended up pretty well, but being that it was freshly ground PB, it was a little chunky.  I didn’t seem to mind.

Happy smoothie drinker

For lunch I had my usual sandwich thin and spinach, but with hard boiled eggs this time.  Paired with a cheese stick and greek yogurt with honey and a lil bit of granola.

munch, munch....LUNCH

I actually broke my egg slicer today :( so tomorrows eggs slices are going to be all out of whack. Hopefully I can recover from this loss and carry on with my day.

When I got back to my desk, my last piece of Extra gum was waiting for me.

GUM

The creamsicle flavor is good,  just wished it lasted a touch longer.

What a Workout!!

I spent the remainder of my afternoon baking cupcakes for my brothers impromptu birthday party at LaserTron.  Funfetti with rainbow chip frosting.

Frosting casualty

After getting those all baked and frosted, I started dinner.  This wasn’t exactly the best dinner, health wise, but MAN it was good!!

I baked some of the Tyson breaded chicken fingers until they were crispy, and covered them in Frank’s Hot sauce. We made chicken finger sandwiches!  I made mine on a whole grain roll, with lettuce, tomato and blue cheese.  I had some Buffalo Chicken flavored rice I found at the store the other day, and some corn.

Interesting

I ate my corn first, and moved on to the sandwich.  I kept going on and on about how big it was (that’s what she said ), and I didn’t think I could eat it all, but somehow I managed. I passed on the rice though. I headed right to the couch to lay down, as I had stuffed myself to the gills.

Big Dinnah.

I tried to digest as fast as I could, but it was time to head over and play some laser tag.

We met up a with about a dozen of us, consisting of friends and family.

Woo Wee!! I was all over the place, up the ramps and back down.  It is quite the workout.  They don’t approve of running in there, but once I got going, I was kinda flying around.  I did get the whistle for running, luckily they didn’t take points away from me.

Adam is pretty intense while playing, he gets in the zone, while I’m just there to have a good time, and I did.  I think everyone did.  And everyone was in  desperate need of a shower.

Adam's score card

Got a few more things to do before calling it a night.  Like finish watching Family Guy.  Can we say “guilty pleasure”?
